Marie is a Care Coordinator at Entira West St Paul and a vital part of our team. Her passion for helping others is evident in the way she connects with patients and works closely with the entire clinic staff. We sat down with Marie to learn more about her journey and how she approaches her role as Care Coordinator.
Q: What do you do as a Care Coordinator each day?
Marie : My role is very dynamic, and I work with the entire clinic team and all of our providers. I have a lot of contact with patients — I call them to check in on things like their blood sugars, blood pressures, and medications. I also make sure to follow up on any ongoing concerns or needs they may have. If they need to be added to certain programs, I handle that too. I’m the go-to person for patients to reach out to if they have questions, need help, or want to schedule an appointment. Every day is different, but it’s always focused on ensuring that patients have the support they need.
Q: Can you share a memorable experience where you felt like you made a real difference in a patient’s life?
Marie : There’s one experience that really stands out to me. We had a gentleman who had cognitive disabilities, and he was struggling to manage some paperwork, like insurance forms. He lived alone, and his 90-year-old father brought him in. We helped them both work through the paperwork and made sure everything was in order. They were incredibly thankful for the help, and it really stuck with me because it showed how much of a difference we can make by just offering that extra bit of support.
Q: You clearly go above and beyond for your patients. How do you approach patient care differently?
Marie : The biggest difference is that we treat every patient as an individual. We don’t just focus on their medical condition — we take the time to understand their unique needs. Whether they’re coming a long way to get here or need extra help with forms or understanding their treatment, we’re always here to offer support.
“We provide more than just medical care — we provide a sense of community and make sure they know they can count on us.”
Q: What would you like patients to know about you and your role as a Care Coordinator?
Marie : I want patients to know that I’m here for them, whether it’s to answer questions, help with scheduling, or support them with their healthcare needs. My goal is to make their experience as smooth and supportive as possible. I’m always available for them, and I want them to feel like they have someone they can rely on to help navigate their care.
