We are currently seeking an Office Float to join our team. This is a Full-time, on-site role. This role is the back-up for all business office roles.

Job Functions:

  • Greet patients, collect insurance information and co-pays.
  • Orientation of new patients to clinic including distributing welcome packages
  • Scheduling outside appointments for patients with specialists, radiology, etc.
  • Completing the referral module for all referrals (specialist, outside tests and radiology and faxing to the insurance company as needed
  • Transmitting diagnostic imaging and physical therapy orders.
  • Entering orders into the Minnesota Gastroenterology web site
  • Creating orders for tests as needed
  • Sending appropriate notes, labs, and reports to specialists
  • Documenting dates, time, and place for specialist appointments
  • Performing quality checks to verify outside test appointments are kept.
  • Responsible for updating patient accounts, new patient registration, and taking billing calls.
  • Review accounts on future schedules.
  • Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes.
  • Post patient payments and adjustments.
  • Balance all transactions
  • Respond to inquiries regarding accounts from patients and insurance companies.
  • Prepare bank deposit forms.
  • Obtain patient medical and insurance information in order to coordinate the patient referral process.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with patient information.
  • Participation with patient and family centered principles that are aligned with health care Home Standards

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • One year experience in a medical office
  • Desired skills include but are not limited to: the ability to operate a PC system and 10 key calculator and understanding basic mathematical principles.
  • Must possess excellent communication, problem solving, and human relations skills.
  • This position requires the ability to deal with all types of people, the ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the development and use of PowerPoint.

We are currently seeking a Scheduler for scheduling and canceling appointments and verifying patient’s demographic information. You should also be able to ensure that sufficient time is allocated to each appointment.

SCHEDULE:

  • Part-Time, Non-Benefit Eligible
  • 26 hours a week
  • Includes every other Sunday 8-5; (after 90-days) 
  • M-F Hours: Vary based on weekend schedule, start time 10am & end time between 2:30 & 4:30
  • Remote potential after 90-days

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures telephones are courteously and professionally answered.
  • Receives and handles all telephone calls, resource, and routes to appropriate department.
  • Schedules patient appointments via telephone and patient portal.
  • Contact/reschedule patient appointments due to provider schedule changes.
  • Perform visit planning duties (create alerts/recalls, contacting patients for follow-up care).
  • Create provider mater schedule and review/edit daily schedules for each physician, as designated.
  • Block schedules per clinic/provider request.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with patient information.
  • Perform various other duties as directed by manager and /or lead.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Proven experience working in a medical office.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • The ability to type and file accurately.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with co-workers, leaders, clinical staff and the public.
  • Must be detail-oriented and accurate.

Position Purpose:

The Certified Diabetes Education Specialist (CDES) is responsible for the education of patients, their families and appropriate support systems about diabetes self-management and related issues.  The CDCES provides diabetes self-management education and coordinates protocol-based diagnostic testing and treatment, which may include medication management, nutrition, physical activity, healthy coping, risk reduction, monitoring and problem-solving. The CDES also serves as a resource to other staff members as needed.  Provide consultation to providers on best practice in management of patients with diabetes.

Major Job Functions:

  • Provides direct patient education in an individual or group setting following specific curriculum developed for diabetes education
  • Assesses patient’s physical, psychosocial, behavioral and educational needs (to include self-management, nutrition, physical activity, medication taking, and health maintenance labs) and interprets the information to identify individualized clinical and educational needs
  • Teaches technical stills, concepts of diabetes self-management and facilitates behavior change for patients with Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes
  • Collaborates with the patient to establish individual goals
  • Communicates with providers, clinic staff and MTM pharmacists as part of the care team to keep the team aware of patient progress and recommends changes in treatment regimen as appropriate
  • Evaluates the patient’s comprehension of completed education and develops follow-up plans to address ongoing needs
  • Documentation in patient’s electronic medical record of required assessments, interventions, evaluations, and follow-up as consistent with established departmental and ADA standards
  • Individualizes education presentation and materials to the patient and patient circumstance
  • Utilize designated clinical guidelines and the ADA Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes for adult diabetes management
  • Work with clinic management and staff to improve diabetes care and measures within the clinic
  • Maintain ADA and/or AADE accreditation program records
  • Required to travel to other facilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietician/Registered Dietician Nutritionist or Registered Nurse
  • Current Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification or be in the process of completing Certification
  • Current licensure in Minnesota
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • BLS Certified
  • Experience with EMR
  • Strong computer skills
