The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program is a new program that may help eligible Medicare beneficiaries access GLP-1 medications for weight management at a lower cost. Beginning July 1, 2026, qualifying patients may be able to receive covered medications for a $50 monthly copay through this CMS demonstration program. Who is NOT eligible?
Patients do not qualify if they:
- Have Type 2 Diabetes
- Have Moderate to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
- Have Noncirrhotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) with moderate to advanced fibrosis, stage F2 or F3
- Have previously filled a GLP-1 medication utilizing Medicare Insurance
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program begins July 1, 2026, as a CMS demonstration program designed to improve access to GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
Eligible patients may be able to receive certain medications for a $50 per month copay.
Please note:
- This copay does not apply toward your deductible
- This copay does not count toward your true out-of-pocket costs
The program may include the following GLP-1 medications:
- Foundayo® (orforglipron) – Tablet
- Wegovy® (semaglutide) – Injection (including high-dose) and Tablet
- Zepbound® (tirzepatide) – KwikPen® formulation only
To be eligible, patients must:
- Have Medicare Part D insurance plan
- Meet Specific BMI and health Criteria
- BMI of at least 35 – No additional condition needed
- BMI of at least 30 – Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction; uncontrolled blood pressure on 2 or
more medications; or Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3a or worse - BMI of at least 27 – Pre-diabetes; previous heart attack; previous stroke; or symptomatic peripheral
